Why is it still called wireless charging if the charging pad requires a wire?

"wireless charging" refers to the device being charged, not the charger itself, which still requires a wired connection.

They call it wireless charging because you don't have to plug in the cable yourself like in the old days! Sure, the pad still has a wire, but electromagnetic induction makes it so your phone charges without a direct connection. It's kinda like Wi-Fi for charging!
