It also found that over half of people in Canada living with T1D have health costs >3% of their income, and as such, fail to adhere to recommended treatments due to financial burden, leading to poorer health outcomes, especially over the long term.

Living with diabetes in Canada is not much different, with Diabetes Canada's "Diabetes-Related Out-of-Pocket Costs 2022 report" finding that out-of-pocket annual costs can be over $18,000 annually depending on what part of the country you reside in.
