When I joined Farcaster, I was neither an employee of Merkle nor did I know Dan or Varun. Varun finally got me to onboard after multiple attempts, conversations lead to what I could do for the project, and I became a part of the team. I may not always agree with every decision, but I can definitely confirm firsthand there is no "help Merkle's friends" bias, and for those who know why I quit CB, they'd know just as well I wouldn't stick around at Merkle if that were the case.

when i joined farcaster, i knew nothing about the team

i just asked for the invite and got it

then i permissionlessly got my ens name and boom, i'm on farcaster

only this /farcon i've met both @v and @dwr.eth 

albeit i was pretty stoned so still not sure if i met them or not

Same! I didn’t know anyone on the team but was finally at my wits end with web 2 social media so ended up getting an invite here and was instantly thrilled that people here were smart, nice, passionate and optimistic about building, plus sharing URLs to my art didn’t get deboosted into oblivion.
