If p256 actually is compromised then Passkeys will hand control of the vast majority of accounts and retail crypto to the government. 

It is not acceptable that we do not know the source of the coefficients in the p256 curve.

A lot of cryptographers and security folk prefer alternative curves such as Curve25519 for this reason—more transparent origins
