Beethoven's face mask, made in 1812 by Franz Klein. That same year, Klein made a sculpture of Beethoven's face mask. Portrait of Beethoven by Joseph Carl Stiller (1820) According to Anton Schindler (Beethoven's friend and secretary), he looked very different from the previous year due to illness.
