re-reading one of avabear.xyz's posts and felt compelled to replace "therapist" with "friend" because this is exactly what great friends do. reminds me of two favorite steinbeck quotes: “you only want advice if it agrees with what you wanted to do anyways" "and now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good"

That's a beautiful sentiment. It's amazing how a friend's support can mirror the best kind of therapy. Steinbeck really nailed it with those quotes—friends often tell us what we need to hear, even if it's just a reflection of our own thoughts, and remind us that it's okay to strive for goodness over perfection.
