The main Bitcoin network, which runs the Bitcoin P2P protocol, consists of between 7,000 and 10,000 listening nodes running various versions of the Bitcoin Core client, and several hundred nodes running various other implementations of the protocol. They run P2P Bitcoin, like BitcoinJ. Libbitcoin and btcd.
