Memecoins Lead Crypto Investor Interest in 2024 A CoinGecko study found that memecoins have taken the top spot in the crypto space this year, with nearly a third of investor interest focused on memes. Solana memecoins were the fourth-largest with nearly 8% interest, while Base memecoins were 11th with just over 2%. Meanwhile, AI-themed memecoins and cat-themed memecoins captured around 1.5%-1.2% of user attention and ranked 15th and 16th. The memecoin market cap is currently $113.2 billion, led by Dogecoin and SHIB. They were worth $49.3 billion and $13.8 billion, according to CoinGecko.
