Do I need to take it out of the plastic??

I have a ton of plants and I use the same approach for all of them

Wait until they are uncomfortably dry and then completely drench them 

I’ve lost a few fussy exotics this way (RIP velvet Elvis) and I accidentally overwatered a couple of pothos to death

But 100% effective for snake, spider, zz, etc
