Not sure why the lie is continually perpetuated but the narrative is entirely false.

You are exchanging on-chain ownership for on-chain storage.

Provenance is ownership based - there is no on-chain provenance.

Ownership consensus of Ordinals is 100% off-chain - inscription data is indexed off-chain.

Inscriptions basically work like this: 
1. Send tx with data and sat details to be inscribed
2. Inscription data is then indexed by off-chain services
3. You own a sat that an external indexer says has data from inscription tx

This sat is no different to any other sat except that an off-chain indexer says it is.

And that is precisely my point - storage risks were not what blockchain was specifically designed for. Digital ownership was.

We can already decentralise storage without blockchain with relatively low risk.

There is no other way to do digital ownership safely.

Ordinals are not safe in comparison to smart contract.
