CCIP Read, was recently added to the DNS TLD level allowing us to check DNS records instantly through a special gateway, offchain.

Introducing 3DNS's customer resolver 🛠️

We've written a custom resolver that operates on @optimism, an L2 but is fully accessible and manageable through a gateway from L1. The data of your domain can be read on L1 while being managed on L2.

@paulio and @nick.eth co-authored EIP-5559, laying the groundwork for this resolver that allows for gateway functions guiding wallets on resolver data storage. 

It introduces a gateway contract on L1 that directs storage to OP mainnet.

What does this mean?

This resolver offers a cost effective way to manage your domain's records (TXT records, content hash, etc).

Unlike Gasless DNSSEC, which requires paying gas fees for updates on L1, our L2 resolver allows you to update records on L2 through a gateway from L1 without the need for costly gas fees.

So now your domains on 3DNS will be able to function as an ENS name with low cost management on L2.
