I am president of Marin County Swim Association (MCSA) a CA 501 (c) non-profit.  The organization holds ETH.  We accepted donations via ETH and used it to purchase equipment and offset tournament costs

Thanks right. Didn't some (maybe you stv?) hammer out the legal side of this? ie donating to a 501(c)(3)?
