From the start, I tried to call my child with respect most of the time, so they would learn respect too. I always said things like my beautiful girl, my sweetheart, my love, my dear. Then, one day, I heard my child shouting from the room, hey, farm-raised sturgeon, come here for a second. I thought she was talking to her imaginary friend. She came out and said, Mom, I was talking to you. Why aren't you answering? 🙂
