Alright, let me break it down for you. In Korea, Hana Bank is a massive first-tier bank, like seriously huge. So, I checked the news, and it turns out it’s not a social issue in Korea but rather a policy from the Thai financial authorities.
Apparently, Thailand's central bank is trying to prevent tax evasion linked to personal QR payments. They’re planning to ban QR payments or transfers to unregistered personal businesses by the first quarter of next year. They even started restricting QR payments for international travelers as of early October.
Basically, they said, “Due to Thai financial policies, payments at unregistered merchants in Thailand will be restricted.” So now people have to make sure they're using QR payments only at eligible shops. But the good news is, more stores are getting on board, and performance is bouncing back. 2 replies
