I like that WhatsApp clears the notification count badge when you open the app

I…… HATE THIS with all my heart! What’s the point of multiple notifications if they ALL clear when I open my app? The badge is there to remind you you still have to go thru them 😅

The phone is a communication device, its sole purpose IMO is to remind you of texts you haven’t replied to yet. It’s legit to have unresponded texts anxiety in this time and age, but just remove the notif badge then From a UI/UX pov what whatsapp does is counter intuitive, and it gives me MORE anxiety because if i know that if i reply to John now I might forget to reply to other people later…

What I love on the other hand is what Telegram lets your do: the notif badge counts the number of chats (private or groups) that you have left behind, and not the total sum of texts combined in those chats. That way you know how many “things” you have to check when you open the app without that number becoming overwhelmingly high!

i suppose it's fair to have this setting customizable for people that have differing opinions in telegram's case i just wish notification settings synced between devices
