The traditional concept of an album is evolving. Do you like where things are headed? Why or why not? https://www.businessinsider.com/spotify-tiktok-taylor-swift-beyonce-muse-streaming-quantity-over-quality-2024-7

Yes, media often shapes the medium. Here is my personal timeline: - Early recorded music led to 3.5-minute songs due to vinyl’s constraints. - The LP format allowed for longer tracks, perfect for filling FM radio airwaves and giving us Pink Floyd. - Cassettes made music portable and pumped up the workout playlist. - CDs, inspired by Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, packed in 74 minutes of music, leading to long albums with tons of tracks. - Napster brought instant music, reviving search and browse, influencing iTunes, and bringing back the 3.5-minute single. - Napster’s P2P model paved the way for Spotify’s cost-effective distribution and unlimited subscriptions, and probably kickstarted algorithmic curation. - TikTok or a similar platform might just lead the charge in generative AI.
