It's difficult to do everything with volunteers. Many DAOs have closed down because they were unable to keep up with the costs and revenues.

I would agree. I tried to avoid volunteers but we also didn’t make enough money to pay people consistently outside of our pro players 

So a lot of the work I continued to carry because I didn’t want folks to produce free labor.

I also feel like companies in Web3 don’t invest enough in what truly matters - devs building in their eco - a DAO won’t do anything for that

I have mixed feelings on that 

But ultimately the takeaway is that full decentralization (or maximization of it) really only works for things that are public goods and meant to greater accessibility 

Esports (in some ways fits that bill) but brands require more stewardship and tighter focus
