The Laughing Cavalier is a portrait painting by Frans Hals, a painter of the Golden Age of Dutch painting. This work was created in 1624 in the single-face genre. This work has been referred to as "one of the most brilliant portraits of the Baroque period". This work is now owned by the Wallace Collection.

The title is an invention of the Victorian public and press, beginning with its display at the inaugural exhibition at the Bethnal Green Museum in 1872-1875, just after its arrival in England, and thereafter regularly featured among the best-known paintings of the Old Masters in UK is displayed.
