Not all memecoins are created equal. Within this category, there's a wide disparity across projects. We're seeing a lot of news now around rugs, insiders, bundled tokens and greedy teams.

We chose @base instead of Solana for this reason: a chain saturated with rugpulls and corrupt teams does not reflect well on the ecosystem as a whole. In our opinion it's not sustainable.

Based Pepe was launched last August knowing that these issues would sooner or later come under scrutiny. Our team has experienced the same losses as everyone else, and we were tired of it. We wanted to exemplify how doing things fairly can be the norm.
