Thomas Alva Edison was born on February 11, 1847 in Ohio, USA. He became the greatest inventor in American history and had many inventions in various fields such as power generation, mass communication, recording and reproduction of sound and moving images. He was one of the first pioneers who used the principles of organization and teamwork in the invention process with the cooperation of scholars and employees. Edison established his laboratory in Menlopark, New Jersey, where many of his early inventions were developed. He has 1,093 patents to his name in the United States and other parts of the world. Edison died of diabetes in 1931
