Tips on starting out hosting and producing events a thread🪡
- Start out local.

- Support other event organizers if you cannot produce an event on your own.

- branch out to cities where you have a friend with a couch to sleep on.

- talk to venue owners, lots of them negotiate.

I would not get into events trying to make money in the near term. I’ve yet to be paid from an event and I look forward to the day I do. 

I’d also recommend anyone looking to throw your own show to save for it. It becomes more achievable if you’re able to put up your own money.

This related to an idea that’s been very important to me in business. Do not risk others money on something you wouldn’t be willing to risk that money on if it was yours. 

If you’re able to do an event, get paid out, and have your accommodations covered then more power to you, but the budget quickly multiplies if you’re unable to cover some baseline costs of facilitating events.
