I feel like we’re exiting a “golden age” of EVM development, where devs could build for a single execution environment As more chains come online & compete to meaningfully differentiate, or just upgrade on different cadences, writing good smart contract code that’s deployable everywhere is gonna get way harder

This is not nearly as discussed compared liquidity or staking inefficiencies... as you mentioned navigating multiple environments complicates development, makes interoperability harder to achieve and eventually usability.

It's actually nuts that we'll be able to use our contracts on a parallel EVM chain like Monad. Non-EVM chains are going to zero (sorry Solana).
