Reminder to self: The last day or so of a trip is a dangerous time, I’m out side of my normal environment without my routine and systems. Things I’ve done: - locked passport in Airbnb (leading to missed flight) - lost wallet (2007 Argentina) had to get cash wired to me by parents with 3 days left, mis-budgeted that cash to the point that I had 10 cents left after paying the “airport access fee” - slept in, missed flight - got a bagel, missed train smh

Buckwheat pillows are not as memetic as toe spacers and tongue scrapers, but they should be. Mine weighs like 5 pounds and takes up half my luggage, but it absolutely worth hauling all the way to Thailand to avoid sleeping on the horrendously thick hotel pillows.

I really empathize with this wishful thinking, but must say that I believe the idea of “going to space because we rekt the earth” is a very dangerous one. 1. We are so so far away from a non-trivial amount of people being able to reach, let alone survive in space. 2. Hard to imagine we could bootstrap a stable geo system from nothing, when we can’t even sustain the incredible one that was gifted to us. 3. In order for humanity to expand outward into the galaxy, we need to actually increase the number of planets we inhabit and steward, not just burn through one at a time.
