Another idea along these lines: Create a memecoin for an idea with locked allocation If someone ships something token holders can vote to release the funds to them This creates a market for valuable ideas and seeds capital for them to be executed

it's OK for farcaster's endgame not to be a highly fair/permissionless/censorship-resistant network of apps but if that is going to be the case then it may as well stop half-assing decentralization and focus on making warpcast the center of everything in crypto and importantly we need to find a different solution to the things that are broken about online social today

global state is even more overkill than i initially thought tbh hubs replicate cast and reaction data across thousands of nodes. this provides hard data availability guarantees for much longer than that data is actually relevant i.e. a couple of days vs a full year – 2 orders of magnitude off! makes more sense for static data like social graph and profile info but then again it doesn't actually make sense to store social graph data on rented storage since the nature of the data is much more permanent

been thinking a bit about what it actually means for online creators to own their audience - an important promise of decentralized social that i don't think any emerging platforms really succeed at delivering yet i believe it comes down to 2 things: 1. distribution: when someone subscribes to your content, you should be able to reach them regardless of what the app they are using thinks of you 2. fairness: subscriber feed algorithms should rank your content based on signals from the user or the network at large, but not the app itself (e.g. shadowbans/spam labels) absolute fairness is hard to achieve with current feed building architectures and content policies. MEV analogies are potentially interesting here e.g. encrypted mempool = encrypted content, proposer builder separation = client feed builder separation
