I find the backlash to the new Zora model quite fascinating. When NFT’s first became popular, many people advanced the same criticisms. They weren’t real art, they overly financialized something that shouldn’t have a price on it, etc Now, four years later we have learned a lot. It’s time for new experiments. But it’s weird to see NFTs being held up as some bastion of artistic purity.

Amps.fun allows you to buy recasts from your followers. To get started, register using the frame. If someone selects you to recast their post, you’ll automatically get paid and receive a notification. We’re currently testing the purchasing flows with increasingly larger groups. If you’re someone who has a budget for distribution and want to be an early user, send me a DM.

It has now been two weeks. I’ve moved to the roof. Using this mason jar ($17) to collect rainwater (hasn’t rained in ten days). @v came yesterday, but when i tried to signal to him in the parking lot he pretended he didn’t see me. Not leaving until I have an offer in hand.

Why the waitlist for @ampsfun? 1) Two-sided marketplaces have a cold start problem. 2) Easier to solve for supply upfront b/c there are many people willing to test new frames atm. 3) As more users register, the frame becomes more useful for users who want to buy recasts. We've grown more quickly than planned, but I still want a few more turns to iron out flows before we open up full frame to everyone. If you're on waitlist, the best way to get access is to DM me with a message on your usecase (e.g. you have a budget to pay for distribution, either via a company account, product launch, etc)

Recently I’ve found myself subject to an AI version of the Gell-Mann amnesia effect. When I use AI for tasks where I’m reasonably competent, like writing, I’m disgusted with the output. Barely any of it is usable. But when I use AI for programming I’m happy to let it fill in entire swathes of code. I’m not sure if this is because I’m just worse at programming and can’t notice the slop, or if it’s legitimately better at the more formal domain of programming. Writing still seems to have some sort of subjective quality that is very hard to pin down.
