There’s an essay (a book?) to be written about how the volume of writing and the speed of production on the internet has made *all* language more imprecise. So much of communication today has nothing to do with the meaning of words themselves, but of the things *around* the words: emojis, caps, context, etc.

I need a cost-effective device that I only use for reading. Books, articles, PDFs, etc. Must be able to sync with Readwise relatively easily, and must not easily distract me with non-reading activities.

We claim to have “attention markets” today, but do we really? This would imply that price of a proxy asset is directly correlated with aggregate attention on a meme/idea/information. Or at least that volume is correlated. Trump is no less relevant now than he was when his coin dropped — is the token accurately capturing attention? The nature of tokens is such that you need *consistent value creation* to sustain the relationship between attention and price, and we don’t currently see that with tokens today.

We need more ambiguously themed channels. Channels that are a bit harder to understand than “NFL” or “music,” but once you get it, you *really* wanna stick around.

Tokenization of everything could be good if we build infrastructure for tokens that allow them to be bought, sold, and used in a "good" way. I don't know what good means, which is why I'm not saying the Zora update is good or bad, but I think it has something to do with the messaging and UX around "content coins." Highly curated NFT marketplaces *felt* better to me than high-speed attention markets, and I'm trying to figure out if the latter is truly good and something we want to optimize for explicitly.

Still trying to develop a thesis around the new Zora update and “content coins,” but I find it very off-putting that so many people are all-in on this shift with no coherent thesis of their own.

I am so easily influenced by people who speak with confidence and are respected by people I respect. Upon reflection, I don’t actually agree with their ideas, but it’s hard to realize that reflection is even necessary.
