I’m not sure if it’s real or not so I’m getting it authenticated, but I was able to cop a Nomos Ludwig for just $500. 😱

If it’s real, I might end up flipping it. I think I can take in a solid $1000+ for it. 

Conflicted because on one hand, it looks an awful lot like my IWC Portofino that I got as a gift for completing grad school. OTH, it’s such a steal at that price, and I don’t think I have any German watches.

Apple's hardware aesthetic design feels outdated 
But that's the curse of the trendsetters:

This happened to Rolex before.

Most watch brands has a very specific look. It's quite easy to spot a Patek Philippe, Richard Mille, Cartier from 10 yards away.

This is not the case with Rolex. 
- Submariner looks like your average dive watch 
- Daytona looks like your average chronograph watch
- GMT-Master II looks likes your average GMT watch

The reason is that Rolex pioneered those categories. So of course all dive watches look like the submariner...

Apple's designs were a major contributor to the aesthetics of today across UIs, Hardware or, even things like packaging and physical stores.

But now that their aesthetic is so well adopted, it feels outdated and generic for their own products and we just unreasonably expect them to usher in a new aesthetic for the next generation, without breaking faith with hundreds of millions of users.

What do you think is the most overrated watch brand?

My pick would be Hublot.

Their movements are mid, but you're paying a luxury price tag, and the designs are not that great. I think you could get much better watches for much less.

What would you say is overrated?

If you’ve been interested in watches, but never taken the dive because it seems too expensive - start small.

You don’t have to spend much to get started and find something you love.  It’s not about flexing, it’s about appreciating the design and engineering - at least for me.
