Why is everyone pissed about the feed? And what can we do about it?
🔔 🔔 🔔 🔔 😡 📝 👙 🍲 🔔 🔔 🔔 🔔
A lot of people have been remarking recently that they’re not seeing the content they want to see on the home feed.
At the core of this issue is that Farcaster is experiencing a “thirst trap” meta.
Said another way, there’s a lot more multimedia lifestyle content now.
As a share of total engagement, the old guard of nerdsniped text-based content is at an all time low.
On top of this, Merkle may be intentionally boosting this kind of media content as a bridge to a forthcoming video pivot.
Some of it is good content, some of it is superficial fluff. But overall it sometimes makes the feed harder to filter and parse.
Before this shift, there was a feeling that you could open the feed and learn something from a curated network.
Now the content feels scattered and fragmented in a way that can add mental overhead and detract from the experience.

Okay, time for the shill.
We actually started working on the new @procoin release before people started hardcore hating on the feed.
The core hypothesis of the new protocol and miniapp is that there is now quite a bit of really good content on Farcaster, spread across a wide variety of subjects.
But there isn’t a great mechanism for people to discover it
The Procoin Curation Protocol (PCP) proposes a new primitive called “Feedcoins” that incentivizes curators to curate the best content around their theme of choice.
Enough creator tools! In light of recent feed changes — and even before them — we are in desperate need of better curation.
We’re harnessing the speculative instinct of crypto to spark a curation renaissance.
I’m attaching two recent posts I’ve written about the PCP, but if you’re short on time, it’s Friendtech meets Tumblr.
We’ve already got a core community of early curators preparing their feeds in our groupchat for the upcoming launch.
If you’re interested, reply here with the kind of subjects you like to curate around.
