Liberation arises when we see through the illusion, not when we try to fight it.. The ego is a mental pattern: the story we tell ourselves about who we are (our name, status, roles, past, and future). It’s useful in daily life but not our true essence. When we recognize it’s just a temporary mask or identity and not our real self, we stop being controlled by it.

my mom and i silently meditate 1-2x/wk on the phone , just for 20 mins at a time. hits like a magnifying glass sometimes. today i noticed how i scrutinize and judge each breath i take. lmfao. how slowly did i breathe in? for how long did i hold it? was it a FULL FULL breath (iykyk), or just a normal deep breath? how slow was the exhale? did i FULLY empty my lungs? for how long did i hold w no air? etc. amazing the amount of judgement you can have towards the smallest aspect of yourself - like a single breath - when the main thing that matters is the fact you are breathing at all.
