I just finished this documentary about Nam June Paik, an artist I deeply admire. I thought I knew a lot about his works and life. But the film completely blew open my understanding of him. I couldnโ€™t help but think of everyone Iโ€™ve encountered on Farcaster while watching the documentary. It is very much a story of people on the edge, makers, artists, futurists, travelers, inventors involved with whole-hearted conviction in projects that are ridiculed by the masses. The film also portrays the difficulty of inhabiting this zone of futurism and artistry. Itโ€™s also hard to imagine it now, as South Korea is now k-pop, skincare, and Squid Games, but Paik being from Korea during this time was a disadvantage. He was seen as a โ€œpoor man from a poor country.โ€ Whether you are a musician, an artist, a technologist, a citizen of an underestimated nation, a citizen of nowhere, an explorer, a spiritual seeker, a lover of history, a lover of the absurd - you will find something for you in this film. I recommend it with urgency. Its themes are so timely to the changes we are facing today. Thank you @davidtphung for the recommendation.
