1️⃣ How did humans manage to form civilizations while other creatures, including chimpanzees, could not? Let's examine one of the fundamental bases for this.
Michael Tomasello, in his article "Collaboration Encourages Equal Sharing in Children but Not in Chimpanzees," investigates this. In this study, he used two-year-old and three-year-old children. Two children were placed on either side of a device, each facing a compartment where a treat would eventually appear. The experiment was conducted in two stages. In the first stage, the children did not have to make any effort. In the second stage, to access the treat, the two children had to pull a rope in front of them in coordination to get the treat. Here, the crucial point emerged: the treats were placed unequally for each child. The important question is, do they voluntarily share the treats equally?
