The updated ReadCast app is live on TestFlight now. I gave up on the hypersub idea, so if you want access, just let me know and I’ll hook you up. I’ll be submitting to the App Store this upcoming week.

I’m thinking about other sources for getting book comments and reviews for ReadCast. Threads doesn’t yet have a GET API, but that’d be a good source. Mastodon maybe? Any other ideas?

Small ReadCast update: I switched from gpt-4-turbo to gpt-4o after the first week of June and the cost savings were immediate. I spent the same for the last three weeks of June as I did in the first week of June when using gpt-4-turbo.

When a comment/review is cast from ReadCast, it's sent as a frame. One of the buttons in the frame is essentially "upvote review". Was just checking the database and this mechanism seems like a nice way to create a better trending tab than today's which is static and based on total reviews.

ReadCast (iOS only - please do not subscribe if you're on Android) is now available exclusively for Hypersub subscribers! Thank you to everyone who has tested the app to this point. You will still have access (but please feel free to throw a subscription my way 😉). Going forward, access will only be granted to subscribers, and this group will have direct impact on features and product development as well as access to an exclusive group chat where you can talk all things books and ReadCast. ReadCast has now been rejected from the App Store 9 times. All because of the authentication flow. About ready to keep it TestFlight only and make it available to anyone interested through a Hypersub subscription.
