Any /poker fam played on full tilt back in the days and remembers isildur1? 👀
Viktor Blom, born September 26, 1990, in Sweden, emerged as a poker prodigy under the alias "Isildur1." Introduced to poker at 14 by his brother, Blom began playing No-Limit Texas Hold'em with friends during school breaks, quickly dominating local games.
By 15, he deposited money online under the name "Blom90," amassing over $275,000 in sit-and-go tournaments. However, his aggressive style led to significant losses when he ventured into high-stakes cash games, losing his entire bankroll twice. Undeterred, at 17, he deposited $2,500 on PartyPoker, turning it into $200,000 in two days and $1.7 million in two weeks. 🤯
In September 2009, Blom joined Full Tilt Poker as "Isildur1," rapidly progressing to the "nosebleed" stakes ($500/$1,000). His fearless, hyper-aggressive playstyle shocked the poker world as he took on elite players like Phil Ivey, Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Patrik Antonius, Brian Townsend, Cole South, Daniel "Jungleman12" Cates, Haseeb Qureshi, Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies, Phil Galfond, Brian Hastings, and AsiMos.
He played multiple tables simultaneously, often for 12-15 hours, participating in the largest pots in online poker history. By November 2009, he peaked with $5.98 million in winnings, including $4 million from Dwan alone. 🫣
However, his inexperience in Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) and aggressive approach led to a catastrophic $4.2 million loss to Hastings on December 8, 2009, later tainted by controversy over shared hand histories.
Between September 2009 and October 2010, Blom lost $2.63 million on Full Tilt.In December 2010, PokerStars signed the then-anonymous Isildur1, revealing his identity at the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. He parted ways with PokerStars in August 2012 but was quickly signed by Full Tilt alongside Dwan. Despite ups and downs, Blom excelled in tournaments, winning the 2012 PCA $100,000 Super High Roller for $1.25 million and the 2018 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Germany Main Event for €850,000.
His online play continued with $3.5 million in PokerStars cash game winnings in 2015, though he lost $1.75 million on Full Tilt that year.Blom’s instinctive, high-variance style struggled against the rise of Game Theory Optimal (GTO) play and solvers, and his gambling habits, including betting on sports and other games, led to financial instability. By 2025, his estimated net worth was around $5 million, bolstered by sponsorships.
On April 27, 2025, Blom announced his role as an ambassador for Phenom Poker, expressing renewed passion for the game despite the industry’s challenges. He continues to compete in high-stakes online games, including 1k/2k and 2k/4k Limit Omaha 8/B on Phenom Poker, and live events, with notable 2025 WSOP finishes, including second place in the $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship for $188,295. 💪
Blom definately remains a poker legend, celebrated for his fearless battles against the game’s best. 4 replies
