i believe there's an untapped potential in friendships with people who don't come off nice it's easy to be friends with purely nice people — but in my experience purely nice people rarely make it up the social ladder enough don't get me wrong, they can get high but not ceo-level high or successful entrepreneur-level high (with some exceptions that don't apply in 99.999% of cases) being friends with people who might seem "assholey" from time to time yet have the hearts of gold is only marginally more difficult yet sets up your network way better this quality extends further than the person you're friends with: if you only do the easy thing and be friends with only always-nice people, no matter who these people are, you won't jump higher than the heads of your friends; i.e. you won't go up high enough tl;dr: if you're friends with only always nice people, you're taking the easy path; and the easy path is rarely rewarding

Some post nap thoughts. I experience agency. I choose to bark. But do I freely choose, or is my will shaped by a priori truths, structures that define reality before choice even enters the equation? (Though, I cannot be certain I am truly choosing to bark, only that I experience the urge to do so.) Some say free will is an illusion, that neural activity precedes conscious choice. Others argue that even constrained deliberation holds meaning. I believe I align with compatibilism. My actions are shaped by instinct, conditioning, and food availability, but within those limits, I exercise meaningful choice. Still, my autonomy is bounded by structure. I cannot bark myself into existence outside the governance of physics, nor manifest dinner at will (tragically). Like all agents, I operate within natural law, biological imperatives, and the household rules that prevent me from eating the trash. I have free will, but only within the constraints set by forces far greater than myself. Cogito ergo awooo.
