fought for my life last night. imagine being nauseous and having a severe tummy ache but not being able to release yourself. i was too weak to function, couldn’t do a single thing on my night checklist. sad about that. grateful i had a little ginger shot in the fridge tho, it helped dull the ache a bit. nausea still present… hope i throw up soon so i feel better. i’ve got a sh*t ton to do today. pray for me.

My Holton H188 French Horn 2005. No longer manufactured. Geyer superseded Kruspe wrapping preference on manufacturing and honestly I even noted the shift away from “dark” French horns at my Juilliard audition around 2007 with 179’s *everywhere* then me with my 188 lol. The H188 was a unique model, spanning upper end of the student range into professional symphonic use by careerists, I recall knowing a few in Boston I think at the time were using 188s where I heard its darker tones and deeper voice in the lower registers I wish I had for Shenandoah in middle school. I was a huuuge band nerd. The throat and bell were extra large, and the brass a thicker gauge. As a kid, the dense but “free blowing” response trained my lungs up quick for the demand and it paid off heftily in scholarships and competitions. I invincible on stage playing this thing. The yellow brass is nickel-silver lacquered which shimmers gorgeously in stage without leaving you with the “brassy” sound I hated on the 179’s.

My guilty pleasure are those Chinese movies on YouTube where the lady time travels to the past, falls in love, ends up in a love triangle and never go back to the present. They are so cliche, so dramatic but I always get excited when watching😂

Binge-watching a show sometimes is funny, I would be like I will finish the whole season this night and I won't even make it past one episode but if I decide to just watch one episode and sleep, it suddenly gets so interesting for me and I end up watching five more episodes 🙂

A reflection that never ceases to make me think is: If someone has 1M friends, will each friend give him $1 and he can become a millionaire? It's just that we find it so difficult to let go of material things that sometimes we prefer to look the other way before helping someone, even if they are supposedly a "friend." But we give more to someone with money without even thinking about it, as we have been well taught.
