Doctors are always overworked and stressed out. We need to find a solution. Maybe hire 30% more staff which will leave room to give more rest days for the overall staff. Make mandatory rest periods like 1-2 week for each 2 month, during which doctors just have a holiday to rest and recharge. They would do a better job and save more lives if they have a clearer and recharged minds. They will be more creative, caring, and better at problem solving. They will have more time to read/study and keep up to date with recent advances in medicine. This is much better for healthcare in long term. Who is building this.

Every 2 weeks I receive an infusion of a treatment called Fabrazyme. This includes enzymes that my liver can't make because I have Fabry disease. I am hooked up this morning and this will take about 2-2.5 hours. There are some cutting edge treatments going through trials currently. Hopefully they will be approved before long. Scientists have found that an enzyme named SIRT2 tells the astrocytes to make more GABA. So, if we can find a way to quiet down SIRT2, the astrocytes won’t make too much GABA, and the brain workers can keep doing their jobs well. Excuse me while I geek out about health tech for a minute! It’s exciting to see how the landscape is evolving, with real strides being made in using quality health data to deliver value-based care. I had a moment where I realized that many of the theories and conversations we once had at Bloomberg School of Public Health about best practices for the future are now being put into practice in real-world settings. It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come, not just from an academic standpoint, but also from a business perspective.
