Meet NEO: The New Home Robot from 1X ๐ค
A Norwegian startup has just opened pre-orders for NEO, a household humanoid robot designed to handle everyday chores โ cleaning, laundry, fetching things, and more.
This is one of the first home robots you can actually buy.
But donโt expect miracles just yet. Although NEO is marketed as โautonomous,โ thereโs a catch: in complex situations, a remote human operator will step in to guide the robot and complete the task.
Thereโs also a data trade-off โ your robot will be constantly sending information back to the company. Technically, you can opt out, but that might limit what NEO can do for you.
On the bright side, 1X promises to blur human faces on camera feeds, and you can define โno-go zonesโ inside your home. Youโll also be able to check in remotely and see what your robot is doing in real time.
If youโre comfortable sharing some data, NEO could become genuinely useful over time โ and youโll be helping 1X train the next generation of humanoid robots.
