The irony of data selling at web3 events

I just received a sponsorship pitch for a "techno crypto" event. Guess what they're offering? 😂 

The attendee list! Selling data at a blockchain event? Time to have a little chat about the ethos of Web3.

I love seeing the exact amount companies pay for new user referrals. Feels like I have magical insight into their cost per acquisition 🤠

Books

Robert Cialdini’s book, “Influence” is the most influential book I’ve ever read. I re-read it every few years…

Fun fact: Charlie Munger liked the book so much he sent Cialdini a thank you note and a share of Berkshire A stock then worth $75,000!

What books have influenced you the most? Blog posts? Videos?

A book I swear by (as should every marketer/founder). Don't listen to me, listen to Charlie!

The number one best predictor for retention? Your onboarding. 

Whatever happens there has a disproportionate impact on retention. 

Sprinkle in a ton of value, WOW moments, memorable UX copy, personalisation.

1/ Your buyers are buying bc they don't trust you. 

A few (unexpected) things founders can do to inspire trust 👇

1. Acknowledging any weakness (our product is NOT good for X). Famously Listerine advertised this.

2. Founder's story or "why we're doing this thing", think Elon Musk or also reluctant hero story

(Part I) There's so much more enthusiasm and free spirit in crypto than anywhere else. It's that optimism we need to take off. I also love the outspoken worldview. I always encourage regular/web2 companies to share their worldview, too. Usually too risky for them.
