Today I had my 52nd class It marks the halfway point of my annual goal for year one (twice a week/104 classes) I’m a horrific white belt but today I had the opportunity for a 1-on-1 class with my professor For the first time in a long time I felt that I actually have made some progress 👍

Last week off (travel, family stuff) but back to it this week. Logged two sessions (1 x gi, 1 x no-gi). Now back to full, unrestricted rolls (though still shielding my rib a little) and focused on re-finding my rhythm, getting acquainted with pressure, and ratcheting up my own attacks.

Judo training log: I keep not coming regularly, and then using that as an excuse to default to drops, when I should be aiming for standing ippon seoi and kouchi makikomi. May be dropping by KL for a training stint again though.

Training log, no-gi. Worked a straight-arm takedown sequence and some sweeps from inside de la Riva and Kiss the Dragon. Sparring, did mostly open guard sweep/sub scenarios but mixed in some full rolls at a lower intensity, too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z_UYv5w_Qk

Training log, regional open mat with 60-70 BJJers: 20ish 4 min rounds playing open guard sweep/sub/pass—mix of gi/no-gi—broken up by 3 instructionals on guard passing, retention and north-south/darce chokes. Great to be exposed to such diversity of experience, style and physical characteristics.

Training log, gi: worked on some worm-guard-ish lapel sweeps and some subs (baseball chokes, armbars etc.). Sparring, 1/2 lighter rolls, plus some full rolls playing open guard sweep/sub/pass rules. Played both top and bottom this time—getting near to 100% recovery.

Training log: nogi 8 rolls, many exhausting. Tapped more than Fred Astaire. Drilled a monoplata from shin on shin.
