📓 Design Diary – 10/10/25 Continued iteration on upgrade patterns. I had been using banners a lot while designing new paywalls and subscription UI in lieu of notification systems, and saw an opportunity to create a quieter pattern for less important upgrade moments instead of one more type of banner. Rather than disable the existing UI, which can be frustrating or unclear to the user why they can't interact with it, this upgrade link tells the user exactly what actions they would be able to take if they upgraded. The CTA itself appeals more to a sense of discovery and curiosity vs hitting a stop sign and being told what to do. I think the result brings balance back to the visual hierarchy of the page because it draws just enough attention to stand out when you're reading without overwhelming the other elements. (I also updated the alignment and padding of the content area so that all the text and icons on the page were properly left-aligned)
