CREATION OF CHONES GUILD

The way that things work is changing. You can see it happening all around you.
Story and narrative can have huge effects.
Think back 12 months. The narrative around ETH was awful.
Close your eyes and breath in the narrative today. Quite different, right?
This is the power of story and culture.

Many groups often live within their own worlds for long periods of time. Like flowers living in their own fields.
But how do these flowers grow and succeed and win in this world? This is where cross-polination comes in. And the super power of bees. These bees allow the necessary things to be brought from where they are to where they are needed.
This same dynamic happens in our web3 world. And Chones has been aiming to be these bees for the past few seasons now. The pollen is the ideas and relationships that must be brought across lines.
High level, Chones calls this ecosystem weaving.
Low level, this is:
connect many communities and organizations
maintain mycelial communication and resource sharing
cross pollinate information and ideas
achieved with human to human care
These skills are often hard to identify and hard to measure. It happens and is valuable, but it’s a softer skill.
There are no developer repo commits to look at.
It’s complex. And it’s important.

So far, Chones has been doing this as a small group of people.
What is the ideal form this force can take?
Let’s look at the bee kingdom again.
A bee hive is a natural, self-organizing system where bees collectively maintain a colony.
The hive is structured around roles that cooperate to ensure the colony’s survival.
Yet, the hive operates without centralized control; instead, it relies on decentralized behaviors driven by instinct, pheromones, and environmental cues.
Resources like nectar, pollen, and wax are shared to sustain the colony.
The structure is organic, with no external governance, and decisions emerge from collective behavior.
How can we mirror something like this?
Guilds.
The Chones Guild is an experiment that aims to accelerate this ecosystem weaving, while providing support to those that contribute.

Some history.
Many may already be familiar with Protocol Guild (@protocolguild), a collective funding mechanism for Ethereum’s layer 1 R&D maintainers.
How can we take what Protocol Guild pioneered and make it easy to implement for many different communities and ecosystems.
This is where Guild Guild (@guildguild) comes in.
Guild Guild is a locus of coordination for gathering and distributing the means of Guilding on Ethereum.
Lots of special people have come together over the past 6 months to create Guild Guild.
