The sentiment in this piece by @jaredhecht.eth is so real. Back in the day there was just one online place where we hung out, until Facebook basically re-wrote the game. Maybe it's a function of getting older and having more responsibilities, but the concept of the 'internet home' seems to have disappeared. MSN Messenger, Hi5, Facebook and then Twitter were vital but often just one at a time. Now it's a fragmented mess, and despite Discord's best efforts to be the MSN messenger of today, there's a secret sauce missing. User experiences are objectively better, but I feel less psyched to use these services that I used to. Are algo-driven feeds not sparking the same level of joy? Maybe that secret sauce was the luxury of being online 24x7, and I'm chasing the dragon. Can Farcaster become this new platform? What needs to be done to bring it there? And what sort of things would you like to see put in place to make it more comfortable?
