i know thereā€™s a lot of builders and independent creators on here, so i want some insightā€¦ iā€™m at a crossroads where i will soon be needing to make a decision on whether i continue on the 9-5 job route or double down on myself. (i have technically 2 jobs, but 1 of them may be coming to an end in the near future) during the pandemic when i was laid off, i ended up making the most money iā€™ve ever made in 6 months by designing graphic tees & masks / doing e-commerce. i worked really hard but i was working for myself and it paid off. eventually got burnt out and went back to the 9-5 life when i was offered my job back. this was when i was doing web2 b2b saas lolā€¦ended up getting laid off a second time and thatā€™s how i started working in web3. (itā€™s a longer story, but thatā€™s the TLDR). doing that proved to me that i am capable of building for myself and on my own terms. iā€™ve always known that iā€™d wanna return to ā€˜entrepreneurā€™ life (but *not* making t-shirts lol) when time was right.

one of my biggest learnings about me + my adhd is that in order to thrive (aka function), i *NEED* to lean heavily into my routines and rituals. iā€™ve done a lot of experimenting on what works (and what doesnā€™t) in the past few years...and i think iā€™ve finally figured out how to ā€œmaster my morningsā€. hereā€™s what that looks like for me: ā€¢ wake up 2.5 hours before any meetings (usually around 4:20am lol literally) ā€¢ donā€™t open up work chats or think about work until 1 hour before mtgs ā€¢ make a hot cup of coffee and go on a 10-15 minute walk ā€¢ stretch and listen to music ā€¢ do at least 1 house task (tidy up, fold laundry, dishes, etc) (list is not in order rly but yes) iā€™m curious to know what morning habits/routines/rituals work for u???

got my ā€˜officialā€™ adhd diagnosis about when i was 20 (~13 yrs ago) even tho iā€™ve had it since i was a kid. only in the past 5 years did i start learning how to work *with* my adhd outside of relying on just a prescription. all that said, wanna share some recent thoughts/reflections: i have frequent spurts where i can get a million things done in an insanely short amount of time. my creative and productivity levels are absurdly higher than the avg human when iā€™m in this state. i personally love this part about me/my adhd. but alas, my ā€œhyperdriveā€ comes in waves. and thatā€™s why taking breaks is super important. REST is even more important. this should be common sense, but itā€™s taken me a while to (routinely) put conscious effort into turning my brain off to avoid burnout. ok end rant.
