I hate to break it to you but Taylor Swift is not “seeing” you with your 30 cent tip

At large scale you just become one of many and get drowned out, at small scale it doesn’t really make an impact for a creator

Just using an obvious example of someone that people would “tip” – even if it didn’t make sense from a patronage angle (more about status, being seen, being a true fan)

You don’t need global superstars to imagine that people would stake some financial capital to get some social capital

Collecting doesn’t hold up when most people never look back at or have any use for the things they’ve collected

Wallets have become junk drawers and that’s largely because people just mint a bunch of stuff and forget about it because they don’t really value it that highly since they only paid 30 cents for it

but the blockchain isn't what makes it different really

it's the mechanism of micropayments (and collecting)

much more likely that the chain ~mints~ new stars rather than profiting off old ones
