NFTs died when we collectively realized musical chairs is easier/faster with the simplest standard. It's the same game we tried with "collectibles" but without all the friction and infrastructure overhead.

I have hope the newer ERC standards will spark novel (and useful!) ideas but until then we're back to 2017.
