I understand the sentiment behind channel rituals but they feel... insincere? They flip the "work" from the moderator back to the members which can be okay if the mod is also putting in some work but given that they're automated and not dynamic they come across as "set it and forget it"

I would say that part of connecting with a community and moderator is their curatorial voice and the culture they built/building, which in many cases is why you were drawn to it to begin with. I'm still very big on human moderation, esp in a world where everyone is opting for automation, which implies a high degree of homogeneity.
