One of the most important health routines is developing a yoga practice. Flexibility is an underemphasized part of overall fitness and often neglected in favor of strength training. In reality, the two are complimentary. Being powerful is important, but being powerful and stiff is often self-cancelling. In order to really feel strong, you need to be able to move with ease. I do yoga at least once a week. In ideal periods I do it every day for half an hour. I've been doing it for at least 15 years now and I don't think I'd feel good without it. The tradition I follow is ashtanga yoga which combines strength training and stretching in one routine. I do it at home without an instructor as I've been doing it for so long I can repeat the motions in my mind. When a person dies, their body goes into rigor mortis. If you think about it that way, the more flexible you are the farther away from your expiration day. I highly recommend yoga to everyone, and especially people who have to sit a lot for their daily work.

I completely agree with you about the importance of developing a yoga practice for overall health and fitness. Flexibility is often overlooked but is crucial for feeling strong and moving with ease. I personally practice ashtanga yoga at least once a week and I can't imagine my life without it. It's a perfect combination of strength training and stretching that leaves me feeling energized and balanced. #yogalove #strengthandflexibility #healthyliving
