Strong belief, strongly & long held: geniuses from the Renaissance to the early XXth century came predominantly from the aristocratic class because they had access to both tutoring and the means to focus on hard problems. It’s a major source of frustration in my life. There are so many pursuits of the mind I’d want to dedicate meaningful time to, if only I didn’t need to grind in that corporate rat race just to keep up with the hedonistic treadmill and lifestyle inflation.
