We should be imposing age-limits on Congress/Senate While also significantly increasing the salary of elected officials Make it an appealing career path w/ high upside so more talented folks want to take that path rather than just power-addicts https://i.imgur.com/wBS0huu.png

i've always wondered - why are US government officials so much older on average than their counterparts in Europe? AFAIK, there aren't any explicit max age limits there but the younger people seem to get the votes

Respectfully disagree with the age limit even though I think there are some people that are too old or have dementia and shouldn't be elected. If someone is not fit, people voting for them should elect someone better

I'd agree. This is probably related to the life expectancy trend in general. Similar to how the roots of Social Security go back to Otto von Bismark... a 70 y/o ~130 yrs ago would be like a 90 y/o today. Initially it was a "you made it this far, we got you..."

Minimum ages across all elected positions can also be reduced by 5 years

don’t forget to include (insider info) stock-based comp for our current elected officials.

I'm not sure how much age is really a problem. Realistically any successful 70 year old in politics is delegating much of the work to their staff and leveraging them for policy decisions. Definitely agree with your point about higher salaries attracting more talent!
