MPC is like multi-factor authentication for signing transactions. You need to N out of your M (N <= M) secrets to sign a transaction and combine the results to get the final valid transaction signature.

Lets a group of people share a secret so that none of them know the whole thing. The magic is that they can math together using that secret—to send cryptocurrency, for example. Even after doing that, none of them learns what the secret is.

Secure multiparty computation: Imagine that you want to change the font on a piece of text. So you give one word to each person, and they change the font on that word and return it to you. You get the font changed on your text but each person who did the work only saw at most 1 word.
